What is this?
Decadio® is an experimental radio service that curates and transmits over a century of recorded sound. The user interface resembles a traditional radio receiver with decades instead of MHz on the dial. Listeners tune in a frequency and travel between the early 1900s through today, hearing voices from the past to the present, both familiar and unknown.
How can I listen?
Our broadcast license limits the amount of listeners listening therefore we require that you join.
How do you differ from other streaming music services?
We are independently owned and operated interactive radio. You tune in time using a radio dial. We broadcast from today on towards the early 1900’s. Our frequencies are extremely special hand tuned signals that you can not receive elsewhere. You experiment with our metaspeaker and smile dial. Our Chronoreceiver® is growing and constantly evolving, entertaining both in sound and vision.
How is your programing different from other radio stations?
The best way to learn the answer to this question is to tune in. We are a unique and truly authentic experience that faithfully captures the sounds of each era. Decadio plays recordings that you aren’t likely to hear anywhere else. It’s about time.
How do you decide what to play?
Listeners set their genre preferences using our Trichotomic Equalizer. Our programming is curated by humans who are interested in tracing influences and capturing history. We are particularly interested in the re-discovery of lost, out of print, or overlooked recordings. Anytime we find a track from years ago that sounds like it could have been recorded yesterday, we are happy — the same is true in reverse.
How much does it cost to join?
It costs nothing and we are working hard to keep it that way. We pay license fees for royalties through SoundExchange, ASCAP, BMI and SESAC. If you enjoy listening to Decadio and wish to help sustain it, consider making a donation here.
Who are the people behind this?
Decadio is the brainchild of Sight8 Inc, a small but mighty creative locality in one of the best sounding parts of the San Francisco Bay area.
